Confuzatron

Confuzatron’s influences come from an indigenous Austin, Texas sound where the band has been tempered for the last 7 years.  Their chief influence being the Butthole Surfers, Confuzatron has begun to wield their music in a powerfully psychedelic way.  Confuzatron (pronounced confuse-uh-tron), as it is known was formed in 2001, when John Lennon Robertson asked his cousin, Caleb Lopez, to play keyboard accompaniment to his guitar while they had a drummer over for practice.  After going through a few different rhythm sections, the band has found solid ground from 2004-2008 in bassist Derek Nordlof and drummer Aaron Lord.

In the seven years of the band’s existence there has been one six-song demo (released in 2002) and a new 12-song album entitled “Confuzatron,” which should be officially released in early 2008, however, copies are now available at performances and online.

The band has played all the major clubs in Austin since 2002 and has been featured on KVRX 91.7 for an hour long radio broadcast.  The first gig the band played was at Emo’s in Austin during June of 2002.  Soon after, on July 18th, 2002 Confuzatron opened for rock legends Amber Valentine and Ed Livengood of “Jucifer.”  Emo’s is the largest music venue in the State of Texas, hosting the most bands per week from all over the world.  Confuzatron’s light show, complete with smoke and strobe lights and video projections, only adds to the overwhelming psychedelic impact of their performances.

Since 2002, the band has opened for a host of touring bands, such as Honky, Helios Creed, PONG, Tia Carrera, Brown Whornet, Gorch Fock, Nebula, Mastodon, HUG and many others.  In December 2006 through April 2007 the band hosted “Psychedelic Night” at Emo’s in Austin, TX.  They stopped hosting the show to focus on the recording of “Confuzatron.”  The band is now attempting to book tours.  Confuzatron has played Dallas, TX and Houston, TX numerous times and is looking to play outside Texas consistently.
